Workshop Alert: Cyanotype Printing!

Wednesday, July 1st, 11am-3pm.

Cyanotype season is upon us, and we need to take full advantage of it!

Join us at Maplewood Studio on Wednesday, July 1st, from 11 am-3 pm to learn how to prepare, expose, and finish a cyanotype print. We'll forage for wildflowers to print in the field behind the studio and experiment with incorporating stencils with our photogram-style prints. And yes, there will be snacks!

$100/person, booking required. Spaces are limited, so tap the button below and book your spot before it’s too late!

Upcoming Markets

This summer, I’ll be setting up print/shop booths at some outdoor markets!

These booths will feature artwork and hand-printed stationery for sale, PLUS a pop-up printshop!

Third Shift 2026:
August 14 workshop

So excited to participate in Third Shift again; this time to facilitate a mixed print media workshop!

Workshop participants are invited to experiment with printmaking and drawing to create magnets in the shape of industrial ships that frequently pass through the channels of the harbour. These channels enable accessibility of large ships, providing great economic boons at municipal and provincial levels; however, there are environmental repercussions to consider, from noise pollution to waste runoff from ships, and the ever-present risk of oil spills.

Participant-made linocut stamps depicting local marine species affected by these damaged ecosystems, which are to be printed onto the ship templates. The ships, designed and prepared by the artist and screen-printed on site by participants, are coloured in after stamping, then affixed to magnetic backing for later display. Sharing of stamps is encouraged, and additional pre-carved stamps made by the artist will be available to those who opt out of carving.

What are our options?

At the end of the day, we are just happy to be nerding out about art with you! Caitlin has experience working with all ages and levels of creativity and is flexible to adapt to the needs and interests of your group. That being said, here are some unique suggestions:

  • Linocut printing: learn how to prepare and edition a linocut print.

  • T-Shirt printing: choose from Caitlin’s hand-carved stamps to print your own T-shirt, tea towel, or tote bag.

  • Tetrapak printing: learn how to prepare and edition a tetrapak print.

  • Cyanotype: learn how to create images with this photographic process. No darkroom required, but we do need some sunshine!

  • Lego printing: a big hit with kids and grown-ups alike! Can be printed on your choice of paper or fabric.

  • Don’t see what you like? Let us know what art activities you’re into, and we can customize a workshop or event for you. If we don’t have what you’re looking for, we’ll do our best to connect you with another local artist who can.

Take a peek at what MWS events look like!

From workshops to printing parties, we certainly have a lot of fun! Here are some snapshots of past events with MWS:

Thanks, Ladies!

I had the best group of women out for a private workshop at Maplewood Studio the other day! The group booked an afternoon workshop to learn how to carve and print their own linocut edition. We had so much fun and I can’t wait for them to come back for another printmaking adventure!

Moncton Buskers Festival 2024

What a delight it was to enjoy a weekend of live printing at the Moncton Buskers Festival! Woodward the Woodzilla press and I helped visitors print 170 linocut prints with my hand-carved linocut stamps, and it was SO MUCH FUN. Thanks to the City of Moncton and Atelier Imago for hiring me to nerd out about printmaking all weekend!

Polarfest 2024!

Thanks so much to the City of Moncton, Atelier Imago, and everyone who came out to participate in my live printmaking demonstrations at Polarfest! It was chilly, but oh so fun!

Third Shift 2024

A big thank you to Third Space Gallery for orchestrating and including my and Natt Cann’s piece, Habitation, in this year’s epic Third Shift Festival! We had so much fun sharing our interactive installation with everyone at the marvelous Haven Music Hall in downtown Saint John.

Habitation will be on display once more, this time as part of the group exhibition, Across the Threshold, at the George Fry Gallery in Fredericton. It will be open from September 5th till October 2nd, so be sure to pop in and check it out!
